Urbanna Family Friendly Events

How did such a small town get such a big reputation? The Urbanna Oyster Festival, of course. Virginia's official oyster festival hosts 75,000 visitors in the fall. We have a juried art show, a holiday house tour, concerts in the park, street parades, boat parades, fireworks and a monthly farmer's market, too. Throw your own party in an English garden, on the waterfront, in a pocket park or at an historic site. Get down and boogie in Urbanna, Virginia.

Founder’s Day

to Honor the Beverley and Robinson Descendants

Urbanna Founders Day will be celebrated on August 10, 2019 starting at 10:00 AM at the Women’s Club in Urbanna. This year’s presentation will be a narrative during which we will bring to life the contributions of three of our important “Founding Fathers” and their families as they sought to establish the town of Urbanna as a port community. Those men are Captain Harry Beverley (1669-1730) of Brandon, the Honorable John Robinson (1683-1749) of Hewick and Colonel Christopher Robinson (1681-1727) of Hewick.

There will be period music before and after the presentation at the Women’s Club. The celebration will continue afterwards at the Urbanna Museum with a presentation on Dr. John Mitchell and the Mitchell Map, declared by the Library of Congress as “the most important map in American history”.
