How did such a small town get such a big reputation? The Urbanna Oyster Festival, of course. Virginia's official oyster festival hosts 75,000 visitors in the fall. We have a juried art show, a holiday house tour, concerts in the park, street parades, boat parades, fireworks and a monthly farmer's market, too. Throw your own party in an English garden, on the waterfront, in a pocket park or at an historic site. Get down and boogie in Urbanna, Virginia.

Normally held in February

The Urbanna Chili Plunge Chili Cook-Off is FREE to everyone!

Founders Day: A Celebration of Urbanna's Colonial History

There will be a Mitchell Map presentation in front of If It's Wood at 51 Cross Street on August 1 at 10:00am and 11:30am.

The pandemic has caused us to change the annual celebration of our founders but it has not changed our enthusiasm for our founders or the great history of our special Town!

Instead of a one-day celebration, we will honor our past during the full month of August! You will find articles and information about our deep history and its importance to the founding of our country. Each week a different story will be presented in writing, videos of former plays revisited and past celebrations remembered.

Celebrate Urbanna's history all month in print in the Southside Sentinel newspaper or online. Also on Facebook.

Online at: ssentinel.com and Urbanna.com. Also on Facebook.
