Join The Great Scarecrow Show-Off Contest!
Let’s celebrate the harvest season in Urbanna! We’re inviting all UBA businesses to join the 1st Annual Great Scarecrow Show-Off! This fun event features a lively competition, highlighting Urbanna's creativity and community spirit. Get ready to showcase your best scarecrow creations for a chance to win a $100 cash prize from the UBA.

Description and Rules
- Scarecrows must be family-friendly. No political, religious, violent, or offensive displays.
- Use weather-resistant materials. Scarecrows will be displayed outdoors. Please secure your creation to withstand wind and rain in front of your shop or business.
- Secure your scarecrow safely. Make sure it’s stable and does not block sidewalks or pose a hazard to pedestrians.
- Scarecrows must be handmade. Be creative! Use recycled items, hay/straw, old clothes, or themed decorations. Store-bought scarecrows are welcome only if significantly embellished.
- Straw Bales
- Each participating UBA member will receive one complimentary straw bale.
- Non-UBA members and residents may purchase bales for $7 each, and additional bales may be ordered at an extra cost.
- Please request all needed bales on the registration form, as no extras will be available.
- Pickup will be at the Exxon station; participants will be notified of the date and time.
- Payment for additional bales is due at pickup.
- Scarecrow entry must stay up from October 1–31.
- For safety reasons Business scarecrow entry must be removed by November 1 to make room for the Oyster Festival.
- Judging will be based on the following criteria:
- BEST IN STRAW (Overall Winner – RECEIVES A $100 CASH PRIZE)
- MOST CREATIVE USE OF MATERIALS
- MOST URBANNA SPIRIT
- FUNNIEST SCARECROW
- Entries must be registered no later than September 18 using the form on this page.
- One scarecrow per entry. - groups may work together, but only one display per business or residence.
- Winner's will be determined by popular vote using online voting
- The UBA will create signs for each scarecrow display to encourage visitors and the community to vote and take photos. Additionally, we will provide social media posts for you to share on your channels as well.
- A printed map and Google map will be created so visitors can view and vote on your scarecrow.
