Our Story

Urbanna Beautification, Inc. (UBI) is building this community pavilion for the residents of Middlesex County and to honor the legacy of Charles and Betsy Bristow. Betsy was a founding member of the UBI organization and worked with many organizations in Middlesex County, while taking care of her customers at her shop, Cyndy’s Bynn. Who can forget Betsy’s famous bows that were created for all occasions and donned many a home. Charles served his community as a founding member of the Urbanna Oyster Festival Foundation, Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad, Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, as well as many other community organizations. The mission of the UBI is to enhance livability and beauty for our residents and our greater community in the spirit of and the respect for our history as a colonial port town.

The Project

The Bristow Community Pavilion will be a longstanding reminder of the dedication of two of Middlesex County’s most ardent supporters. Betsy participated in all aspects of her community and, like her husband Charles, believed that all- hands community participation was essential to life and the continued support of a thriving small town. This facility will be benefit the residents of the community as a useful and attractive addition to Middlesex County.

The Impact

As a 501c3 non-profit organization, we are only able to complete this pavilion project through your generosity as a donor. Betsy and Charles would be delighted to know that this pavilion will bring the residents of Middlesex County and the Town of Urbanna together for community events and celebrations. Now is the time to help us realize this community pavilion which will enrich the lives of all who visit.
